Natural Floral Arrangement. It was taken at Katalom, Mazandaran, by the Caspean. Against that wall, the plant looked like a Japanese floral arrangement, on its own, 2014.

Aunt Katayun. A distant aunt and one of the last living members of the Angāli Khans (local chieftains), Borazjan, Iran, 2014.

Aqhā Khān. One of the last two khans (local chieftains) of the Angāli family (the other one being Hoseynqoli Khan, my father, who passed away on the first day of the Nowruz ['the Persian new year'] of 1394 [March 2, 2015] in Tehran), Borazjan, Iran 1998.

The Little God, Berkeley, California, 1994.

Bag Zadeh. A distant aunt and the daughter of the last of the active chieftains of the Angāli tribe, Ahmad Khan, a very powerful local landlord and politician. She never agreed to leave her father's fortification until she passed away in 2014. The picture was taken in 1999 at the aforementioned fortification.

Aunt Khorshid. The Symbol of the Tribe (Aunt Khorshid, her name meaning "sun"), a distant aunt and one of the last living members of the Angāli Khans (local chieftains). She passed away two years after this picture was taken. Angāli district, Dashtestan, Iran, 1998.
